There has been a lot of talk about the new 5D Mk iii, it is finally here and making waves across the photography industry.
Some of the stand out specs are listed below :
Full-frame 22.3 Megapixels
61-point autofocus
6fps continuous shooting
Full-HD video with manual control
3.2′ LCD
The upgrade was not as major as I thought it would be from the Mk ii but this really builds on the strengths of it’s predecessor. In particular, the auto focus system which moves from 9 points to 61 point, a huge upgrade. The Mk ii has always been the camera of choice for wedding photography but this move from 9 to 61 points makes the MK iii very handy for sports, much more versatile. I liked the features of the 7D which have now been ported over to the new 5D but it lacked the full frame; important for portraits/weddings when maximum resolution and clean images are paramount.
Now released and retailing for £3000, body only I can’t wait to get my hands on this and test it out.
Stay tuned…
