Having recently invested in a new set of macro extension tubes for our Canon DSLRs, we wanted to share some images taken using a standard 50mm 1.8 and 36mm tube.
These hollow tubes allow you to get much closer to your subject giving you a ‘macro’ effect, without having to invest in dedicated macro lenses which can be expensive. Â We primarily need macro for shots of wedding rings, these need to be very detailed and sharp in exactly the right place. Â Ring shots are an important aspect of wedding photography and a lot of our clients will request these images at the consultation stage.
Mostly you find extension tubes will come as a set of three, each of a different size. Â We found the most useful combination to be the 50mm lens and the 36mm tube.
